And yet, it took them so long to name him head coach. It's one of the reasons I wanted last stand to watch Indian Horse. The politicians will tell you that there is no discrimination against First Nations people at home. When I was a kid, my public school was across the street from a jail farm for juveniles. I didn't know what was going on back then, but the majority of the occupants, didn't look like any of the kids I knew.
Then, when I was older and Jim was coaching, his kids were from the rough side of the tracks, and yup, we knew which team's arenas we were going to get ushered out of, after road games.
There are some awesome First Nations players, more than you ever see....very few head coaches.

last- I like him, because, like my husband, he rarely makes excuses for anyone's play. My husband never bitched about the competition, it only ever mattered to him how he performed (or his team, when he was coaching). It is true that he would yell to "drop your gloves", if he thought the other team was trying to intimidate you. The last golf tournament we played in, we lost by one stroke....and he couldn't have been more pleased with the way our foursome played.
I'm working on my crowd skills.....but I don't think a cold noisy hockey arena is going to cut it. Going to see if I can hitch a ride to Scottsdale for the auction....
