I spent most of the game keying on Scandella when he was on the ice.....for 2 periods he looked lost. I suppose that's probably perfectly normal skating with a new team. By the 3rd period he had picked his game up quite a bit and was solid. I've been reading quite a bit about him.....maybe the Chief can get his game going again. He's been knocked quite a bit for low effort with previous teams, especially the time he spent with Buffalo and Montreal. He doesn't appear to be that strong, watching him try to clear the front of the net, but he definately has a long reach and a good stick. I'm not convinced he makes the team tougher and I realize one game with a new team isn't the best measure.....We'll see.
If I were the Arizona coach, after that 2-3 minute stretch in the 3rd when the 'yotes couldn't manage to get the puck out of their zone, I would have been throwing sticks at those forkers when they came off the ice.
