The Blues have one bad contract in Faulk right now, other than riding out Steens.
They don't need another with 8 years of Petro at some 8+ mil.
Though I doubt Army's listening.
One thing that may change this whole dynamic is what happens with the salary cap. There are several teams that will be in a serious pickle if the cap is reduced or even just stays the same. And if they cancel the rest of 2020, including playoffs, I can't see how the cap does anything other than stay the same or decreases. The playoffs are a huge revenue source and that is just gone...
Army has my complete respect and I trust he'll make the right calls. I can argue the Petro deal either way. My guess is Petro remaining with the Blues will be mostly up to him. He can do what Crosby and MacKinnon have done and take a little less to stay on a competitive team or he can do a Pujols and go for the cash grab. My bet is Armstrong has a number and if Petro can live with it, he stays. If he can't, he goes. But after all of the China-virus damage, he'll likely have a few less suitors...
