So last summer I had started drawing up plans for how I built my mud motor. Got em about half way done then hunting season started getting close and I put it on the back burner. Started back i on em again early this summer and then my hard drive fried in June. Lost all kinds of documents and pics and my plans were among the unrecoverable documents. Decided I'd better get started on em again cause folks have been asking me all year. I only took a few pics during my first build but I photo documented the second build pretty well. Unfortunately several of the pics I was going to use were lost in the crash. I've made a couple of improvements since my first build and just decide I'd build another one for the purpose of documenting the build start to finish.
I redesigned my upper bearing housing from a simple roller bearing to a more substantial unit that captures and transmits the entire thrust load to the frame rather than the engine. I also modified the frame slightly to make it more rigid.
I built an awesome bearing housing on my lathe yesterday, too bad I'm gonna cut it in half so I can photograph the cut away view. I also picked up a new 6.5 HP engine today.
